Photographer / Blogger
Born in Amsterdam, my interest in photography started as a dance photographer and intern photo editor at Dance Magazine in New York where I became a published photographer, as well as in NRC Handelsblad and with NDT I in The Netherlands.
I moved on to become a personal assistant to the celebrated fashion photographer Denis Piel in New York and Toulouse, France. After this I became an independent photographer and located my workplace to Berlin, Germany, where I currently live.
Throughout the years I’ve collaborated with clients in leading positions in the art, business and politics, such as Maestro Daniel Barenboim, billionaire and philanthropist Munib al-Masri, Israeli former minister Jossi Beilin and others.
I'm specialized in portrait, documentary and general news assignments. In 2016 I received an honorable mention from the Lucie Foundation in New York for one of my commercial portraits. Recent reportages were for 'The Hague Thinking' on the International Criminal Tribunal and for the Dutch daily newspaper 'De Telegraaf' on SPD frontrunner Martin Schulz.
My candid street photography is available in print here online and works from these series have participated in group and solo shows, among others at Kunstraum Oranienburger in Berlin. Thriving to not only being inspired but also inspiring others, I'm a passionate 'photo jockey' and under the name 'The Sovereign Photographer' I'm active on social media.
