Berlin, Berlin
When I arrived years ago, Berlin’s past battlefields could still be felt; not only emotionally in the unique character of its citizens but also visually the city and state was full of ‘unheimliches’ gaps, pieces of ‘no man’s land’ and dilapidated buildings. Some land made way for memorials, other structures were transformed into techno clubs or squatted. Today, the opportunity will most likely be bought by investors for commercial use.
